BlackHat 2012 Recap Plus Powerbroker Mobile and Retina CS 3.5 Launch!
It’s been a very busy July here at BeyondTrust, especially the last two weeks! We’ve just returned from the annual BlackHat conference, where we had tremendous response to demonstrations of our Context Aware Security Intelligence solutions. BlackHat, as many of you know, is the industry’s most well respected technical security conference, so we were very excited to participate in and speak with customers and prospects about our latest security technologies.
While at BlackHat, we also made two very significant product release announcements. First, Retina CS 3.5 signified our full support of MSSP’s to leverage Retina CS as part of their security and compliance service offerings, as well as expanded analytics in the form of heat maps and threat analyzers. CS 3.5 now also includes support for PowerBroker mobile (more on that in a minute), our first joinly-integrated product since the eEye/BeyondTrust merger. Delivering joint product a little over 60 days after the closing of the deal is big deal for us.
That takes us to PowerBroker Mobile. Our second big announcement of the week was the release of PowerBroker Mobile 1.0. On its own, PBM is a stark contrast to the complex MDM solutions available today, however it has a strong focus on ease of use and providing actionable information, which is something our customers appreciate when trying to manage such a hot zone of activity. When combined with the vulnerability management capabilities of Retina CS, Powerbroker Mobile now has the position of mobile security and compliance as a combination of both mobile policy (MDM) and mobile health (vulnerability management). That is, to put it mildly, completely unique in our market today.
With the two announcements last week, we received some great coverage that I’ve shared below.

By: Ken Presti
Through this product extension, MSPs can leverage extensive threat analytics to determine and prioritize vulnerabilities across their customer base,” said BeyondTrust CTO Marc Maiffret. “And it’s highly empirical to the extent that they can use risk scores to establish and support recommendations, while at the same time making that process much easier to manage.

Brad Hibbert, executive vice president of product engineering at BeyondTrust, said: “With PowerBroker Mobile we’re bridging policy management and mobile health by taking vulnerability assessment information as part consideration. Our goal is to provide organisations with a solution that easily integrates management functionality with security information, for any user that brings their own devices to work.
“Managing the health and risks associated with mobile devices shouldn’t be so costly and complex and that’s why we’re introducing PowerBroker Mobile to the market.”
The Var Guy | BeyondTrust Adds to Managed Security Offerings
By: Brian Prince
Security solutions provider BeyondTrust launched Retina CS 3.5, the latest version of its vulnerability and compliance management platform, which now extends support to managed service providers (MSPs), and also rolled out PowerBroker Mobile, a mobile device management (MDM) platform that integrates context-aware management with vulnerability and patch information.
We hope to see you at Black Hat next year! If you missed the show or weren’t able to make it to our booth (too bad because you missed a great magic show!) here are a few pictures that recap the fun.
